Traveling . . .
I’ve been without web access for the last few days (a disaster!) while doing a short course at the Summer Institute for Intercultural Communication in Portland. It was a terrific course taught by Daryl Smith, on using research to advance equity in higher education. She’s one of the top researchers in the U.S. in this field–and it was great to have this intensive three-day with her while I’m planning the Honors seminar for the fall. The other students were also really good–and in one of those hilarious “small world” moments, the intern for our class lived in Moscow for ten years, and her husband is still there, although she’s working on the west side right now.
I’m back on the road Monday, just in time to miss Joan, who’ll be back from her 10 days in Canada. Next week I’ve got three days in Seattle, and then I should be done with my traveling for a little while, I hope. But don’t be surprised if the posting is a little spotty between now and then!
