Pictures from Around the Place

October 25, 2007

We get about 9 beautiful fall days here on the Palouse–sprinkled amid about six weeks of chilly, rainy, muddy hell.  Today was one of those days–not warm, but bright and lovely.  I wandered around the place this afternoon taking pictures, so you can enjoy it with me.

This is my sister Hoe’s horse barn–freshly painted by Handy Andy this summer, and looking mighty sharp.

Two years ago for my birthday, Joan gave me this cast iron hen.  No-one could believe that I wanted it, but in fact, it’s one of my favorite things in the whole world.  I love her!

This pink rose has bloomed all summer long without stopping, and even after the night freezes we’ve been having, it still keeps going.  There are buds all over it, too.

Here’s the trellis by the front door–you can’t see them very well, but there are still yellow roses on it.

And here’s the door . . . by this time I was freezing, and glad to go in and get a cup of hot coffee.

Yes, that’s the bit we painted red before it got too cold and damp to finish. It’s nice, isn’t it? I can’t wait to get the rest of it done, and the trim and all–maybe by the time you’re in the states!
