Tuxedo Boy’s Birthday

October 31, 2007

Yes, my Tuxedo Boy is 8 years old today!  He was born quite unexpectedly–and about a month early–on Halloween evening, and we have always called him our Trick and Treat (and sometimes our little Halloweenie).

One fun thing about having a Halloween birthday is that there’s a class party on your special day, so we can really let ourselves go in the cupcake department.  This year we’re bringing Scary Spider Cupcakes (licorice lace legs, redhots for eyes, black sugar over chocolate frosting, and fangs cut from strawberry sour tape–blessings on the WinCo bulk candy aisle!) as our contribution to the festivities.

At our house the birthday person chooses the supper menu, which is why we’ll be having homemade California rolls, pineapple pizza, and no dessert.  I still remember the year niece Amaryllis chose hot dogs and pickles.  That was it–just hot dogs and pickles.  No buns, no chips, no condiments, no nothin’ but hot dogs and pickles.  Oh, and cake.

Happy Halloween to you all!

I always make sure to provide our teachers with special treats several times a year. Heaven knows they need it!
